kbb - my first blues
- My father was a very gifted man. He played mandoline, banjo,
hawaii, guitar, accordion and piano.
He was also a painter. A very sensitive and creative man.
As a kid, I played harmonica and mandoline. Later my parents bought guitars for me and my brother.
One day, as I was 13, one of my cousins came to visit us. He picked up the guitar, played the blues
and from that time on there was nothing better for me to do, than to study and play this simple, but fascinating music.
It was 30 years ago, but I still remember sitting by our old radio, listening to Lightling Hopkins, Sonny Terry and Brownie Mac Gee, Mississipi Fred Mac Dowell, Koko Taylor, Paul Butterfield, Alexis Corner, John Mayal and many, many others. It's been a long jorney...
